It was around the year 1215 that a group of Native Americans went in search of a new tribal home. Their journey led them to a valley nestled between two mountains. There was a natural protection from the harsh winter winds, a constant source of fresh water, and abundant collection of trees, game, nuts, herbs and clay, and fertile land to grow their crops. So they constructed a palisade circular village. Approximately 100 First Americans made their home near what we now call Bastian, Virginia. They lived here for several years. Where they came from, where they went and exactly who they were remains somewhat of a mystery But they left behind their story, and it is this story that we invite you to experience firsthand.
