The Wolf Creek Indian Village part of our museum is an outdoor facility. Though scheduled hours are posted, it is subject to occasional inclement weather closings and seasonal maintenance requirements. Visitors are urged to confirm site opening times with the Museum to avoid disappointment.

Bland County Historical Society Quarterly Meetings

Quarterly meetings are held the 2nd Saturday of March, June, September and December. Check back for updates

June 14th,  2008 Quarterly meeting. To be held in Conjunction with the Ceres Alumni Association at Ceres, High School in honor of Henry Groseclose and a Celebration of the Anniversary of Future Farmers of America organization. Future Farmers of America is an organization that had it origins in Bland County, Virginia. Updates on this wonderful event will be posted by May 10th.

Tuesday August 26th – 10 AM - Eddie Swimmer, world renowned Hoop Dancer, will give a performance in the Village. One day only. Sponsored by Wolf Creek Indian Village & Museum and by members of the USDA Natural Resource Service & Conservation. Cost regular Admission.

Survival Tech – Traps & Snares

Saturday, September 201 PM to 3 PMWolf Creek Indian Village & Museum will be hosting Eddie Atwell, former head of survival program at Wolf Creek in our village to demonstrate the use of traps and snares. If you ever wanted to know how to survive in the wilderness this is a class for you. Call the museum at 276-688-3438 for registration. Registration is $15.00 prior and $20.00 day of event.

Hide Tanning 101

Saturday, September 27 – 1 PM to 3 PM – Wolf Creek Indian Village & Museum will be hosting hide tanner Sam Wright  in our village to show how to brain tan leather. If you ever wanted to know how to process that deer skin or any hide for tanning and to learn various hide tanning methods this is the class for you.  Call the museum at 276-688-3438 for registration. Registration is $15.00 prior and $20.00 day of event.

Virginia’s Statewide Archaeology in Time and Space: 17,000 Years of Human Occupation” Mike Barber, Virginia DHR State Archaeologist

Saturday, October 4th, - 1 PM - Mike Barber the State of Virginia Archeologist will give a presentation on Human Occupation of Virginia for Archeology Month. After his presentation he will be glad to help you identify your artifact. So bring those unusual rocks you have found in the yard or garden and have Mike help you identify them.
